General information
1. What makes NBJ's jewelry sustainable?
Our jewelry is sustainable because we consistently use recycled precious metals like gold and silver. Instead of mining new gold through environmentally harmful processes, we use only existing, recycled materials. This way, we conserve natural resources and reduce our impact on the environment.
We also place great importance on sustainability with our gemstones: Many come from old stocks and were mined from old jewelry pieces – they carry history within them and are thus given a new life. When we use new stones, we ensure that they come from fair, responsible sources – ideally even from self-sufficient, ecologically managed mines. In this way, we combine aesthetics with respect for people and nature.
2. Where is your jewelry made?
Our jewelry is designed and crafted in Germany with great attention to detail. The design originates in northern Germany, while the entire production takes place in Pforzheim – Germany's gold city. For centuries, Pforzheim has stood for the highest craftsmanship and quality in jewelry making.
Through regional production, we can not only ensure fair working conditions and short delivery routes, but also guarantee the high standards of German goldsmithing. Thus, each of our pieces is created in an interplay of creative design and perfect craftsmanship.
3. Do you have sustainability or fair trade certifications?
We don't currently have any official sustainability or Fairtrade certification ourselves. However, we value transparency and are happy to provide you with the certifications of our producers and gemstone suppliers upon request.
We are actively working toward becoming certified ourselves in the future. However, this process involves high costs and a lengthy effort – a path we are consciously pursuing step by step. Our goal is to achieve this certification to have our values officially confirmed.

4. Is your jewelry hypoallergenic and waterproof?
Our jewelry is made exclusively of real gold or silver. Many of our silver pieces are also high-quality gold-plated with real gold.
By using these precious metals, our jewelry is inherently hypoallergenic, meaning it's particularly skin-friendly—even for people with sensitive skin. They're also water-resistant, making them ideal for everyday wear.
However, with gold-plated jewelry, it's quite natural that the plating can wear off over time—even with multiple gold platings. This depends on how frequently and intensively the piece is worn. Even then, the underlying silver remains intact.
5. How do I properly care for my jewelry?
We could sell you special cleaning products. But they're often full of chemicals and not particularly environmentally friendly. There's a much simpler and more sustainable method that works just as well:
Simply take a cup, fill it with hot (but not boiling) water, and add a squirt of dish soap—preferably environmentally friendly. Let your jewelry soak in it for a few minutes. Then, gently clean it with a soft, old toothbrush. Rinse briefly and pat dry—and your jewelry will shine like new again!
This is how you care for your favorite pieces gently, effectively and in harmony with the environment.
6. Is your packaging also sustainable?
Yes, of course – our packaging is also sustainable. Our outer packaging is made of grass paper, which is 100% recyclable and itself made from recycled material.
The same applies to our jewelry packaging: It, too, is made entirely from recycled materials. We even strongly encourage you to reuse the jewelry box—whether for storing your jewelry, other small items, or perhaps even as pretty gift wrapping. This way, it will last for a long time and serve a new purpose—all in keeping with the spirit of sustainability.
Orders and shipping
7. How long does shipping take?
Shipping itself usually takes 5 to 7 business days. However, it's important to note:
All of our jewelry is produced on demand . This means that each piece is made especially for you when you order it. This ensures that there is no surplus and that we produce sustainably.
The production time is therefore approximately 6 to 8 weeks . Once your piece of jewelry is finished, it will be shipped and will reach you within 5 to 7 business days .
Returns and exchanges
8. Is there a guarantee on your jewelry?
Yes, our jewelry comes with a two-year warranty. This is provided by our manufacturer.
Should something happen in the unlikely event of this happening during this period—for example, a stone coming loose—you can contact us at any time. Simply return the piece of jewelry to us, and we'll have it professionally repaired by our manufacturer or setter.
Since this is handmade jewelry, something like this can happen in rare cases – in which case we will, of course, make sure that your piece of jewelry is returned to you in perfect condition.
9. Do you offer a repair service to extend the life of the jewelry?
We don't yet offer an official repair service. But I feel it's very important to say:
You can contact us at any time if there's a problem with your piece of jewelry. We'll always find a solution together! Our ultimate goal is for your jewelry to last a lifetime and even be passed down through generations. So don't hesitate – just get in touch, and we'll take care of it.

10. What payment options do you accept?
We offer a variety of convenient payment methods. You can choose between credit card, PayPal, Shopify Payments, Apple Pay, and Sofortüberweisung during checkout.

12. Do you have a showroom or a retail store?
We are currently exclusively online.
But: We're planning local pop-up events in the future, where you can see and try on our jewelry in person. As soon as the time comes, we'll let you know via our newsletter and on Instagram. We look forward to meeting you there in person!
13. Do you offer gift wrapping?
Our jewelry comes in a beautiful, recycled box and is also wrapped in tissue paper – so it's almost ready to be given as a gift.
